Noah - 9 Months

Weight:
16 lbs 8 oz - 8 months
16 lbs 11oz - 37 weeks

Height:
28.15 inches

Sleeping: Since Noah turned 8 months, we have been staying at the farm and therefore he has been in our room, so his sleep is not as good as it would be at home and he is harder to put down now too! He is not self-soothing at all anymore, which is a step backwards, but we had expect some setbacks for being out of our regular routine/home setting. Naps are a big struggle since we are dealing with teething. But with that being said, we were spoiled with a few long ones! Pretty sure my kid is addicted to gripe water, so we are cutting that out, as he will cry, refuse his soother without it. We worked that out rather quickly and dont give him that anymore! Another big issue with sleep was the time change! Noah did not adjust well for the first couple days, but by the end of the week he's worked it out, except for waking at 4:30 to nurse because he thinks it's 5:30! Which also means this mama's sleep ins are limited these days, but if we make it to 8, it still feels like 9 for now!! Once we moved back home we have more of a schedule now and Noah sleeps in until 8!! He has had a few nights where he has slept ALL night, which is great! Luckily he goes right back to sleep easily when he does wake in the middle of the night!

Feeding: Noah is nursing every 3-4 hours, sometimes 5 hour stretches, but more consistently 4 hours! He loves eating solids and is actually pretty good at chewing up chunks of food instead of puree's!  He eats 3 times a day. Luckily he enjoys having juice in a bottle or sippy cup now, so that will work during hard to nurse times! He is not so keen on water yet! Although little does he know his apple or pear juice is only once ounce of juice and 4 of water!

Foods Noah tried this month:
- Farley's biscuits
- mumum's
- pear juice
- puffs
- grapes
- green mushies
- cheese
- white potato
- parsnips
- cottage cheese

Clothing: Noah has pretty much outgrown 6 month pants, sweat shirts, and sleepers, but some of the onesies still fit! I did have to go and buy some long sleeve onesies, as we didn't have many! Once we are a little more settled at home, I will go through his drawers and pull out his 6 month cloths and replace them with his 9 month ones!

We also found some baby socks that stay on!

Diapers: Noah is still sporting size 2's! I had to go out and buy another box because there is no way he was ready for 3's yet and it's a better deal - smaller size means more diapers!!

Looks: Blue eyes, and light brown hair.

What The Doctor Had To Say: We actually rescheduled our doctors appointment until later this month because we see the pediatrician too. So I figured it was best to see her after that appointment!

Nicknames: Stretch, No Nap Noah, Little Bird, Sir, Captain, Mr. Magoo, Mr. Man, Bunny, Little Man,  Mama's Monkey.

Likes: His hands, elmo, books - especially his Clifford Goes to Bed Book. His fleece blankets, his lovey bears, snuggles, his turtle, his exersaucer, walks in the stroller, Lux, Jazz, Grace and Lily. Noah loves seeing himself. Noah wants to stand all the time now or sit. He loves eating!! He loves reaching and grabbing everything he shouldn't and he loves watching football on Sundays! He also loves the remote control or pretty much anything he should have!!

Dislikes: Noah also hates being done eating! He is therefore also not impressed with having his face washed after a meal because he clues into the fact that it means he won't be getting more!

Fur Baby Update: Gracie is taking more and more interest in Noah, but neither dogs enjoy these moving toys that Noah loves to crash into them! The cats love meal time and are always first to check under Noah's seat for goodies, especially if it's chicken or cheese!!

Personality/Events: Noah's baptism went really well!! He was in a great mood all day and clearly loves to party!! We also celebrated his first Halloween, where he went out as a walrus!!We went to a pumpkin patch for the first time too! Noah is on the slow move, spinning around on his belly during tummy time and he can go backwards, although he doesn't tolerate tummy time for long and needs a lot of attention while he is trying! He is also spinning around on his bum now too!! We moved back home and Noah has settled pretty quickly back into some sort of norm! Noah says Hi a lot more often, but still not really on command! Noah watched his first Disney movie - Frozen and loved it!!

Mommy & Daddy Update: Not much is new to report on our part! We are happy to be home and getting settled back into our routine. We are grateful that we were able to stay at the farm as opposed to a hotel while our house was being fixed!

When It Snows, It Freezes and then...

When it snows, it freezes and then when it thaws, it rains in my dining room!! Ahhh!! Another project and we haven't even got through the current kitchen/great room reno and now we need a new ceiling in the dining room!! Is there such a thing as a 10 year house? Because I am really believing you don't stay in a house longer than 4.5 years, because when you hit 5 years, you hit a lot of problems!! Yes we live in an old house, and therefore it comes with old house probs and the good news is this house will seem new by the time we finish with it!!

So here is my beautiful ceiling in my dining room now!!

So let's rewind to Friday!

Friday morning the girls came over! Friday afternoon, Noah had an hour long nap and then we went pendant light shopping with J! I found two contenders, both the same price! I really like the second one the best, but I'm not sure it's right for the space and M's first choice is the first pic!

I think we are leaning towards the first one!

After that we headed to Carter's and did a little shopping for cloths for Noah! They had all the summer cloths on for 2.99 and then 20% off, so I bought cloths for St. Martin! I couldn't beat the prices and didn't have much for him to wear while we are away. Now I have an outfit an day and I spent like $15 for a weekly wardrobe for him for that week! I also got him an outfit for him to wear Christmas Day!

Friday night J invited us over for an impromptu dinner! It was great because this meant I didn't have to cook and it was a new recipe that I think we will make at home! Taco casserole! I whipped up a quick apple crisp for dessert!

Saturday morning M was working, Noah gave me a wonderful sleep in until 9!! I love it when he does that! We hung out for the morning and then just as I was expecting M home, I noticed the water leak! Needless to say I told M he needed to come home quickly. We figured out the problem, luckily it's an easy fix, I don't need a new roof or shingles, just a heat cable to help prevent freezing in the area! But I do need a new dining room ceiling!

M started working on changing the hot tub water, which makes me very happy, because after all this stress lately, there is nothing I miss more than soaking in my hot tub! Especially now that I can enjoy a glass of wine with it!

We had a friend pop by to look at our ceiling and turns out he is going to help us out with it, which is great! I love work trades! Looks like we will getting the dining room repainted too, but I told them they need to save my striped wall!! Good thing I was kind of getting sick of the yellow paint!

Saturday night was low key. M did get the hot tub water changed and we can go in Tuesday!! Oh I am excited!

Sunday we had a nice morning hanging out as a family. Sunday afternoon we sent Noah to the farm so we could get some more organizing done! It was great being able to dedicate 2 hours to a single project, we were actually able to accomplish quite a bit and Noah had fun too!!

When we got home, we put Noah down for a snooze and got a few more things done! We were going to go out for Chinese food in town with M's parents, but Noah was super grumpy, so we decided to goto the pub in the village instead! M left when he finished eating, as Noah was starting to fuss, so he came home and got Noah in the bath (perk of living around the corner) while I finished eating!

While he put Noah down I decided we better take advantage of the warmer weather and it had stopped raining, so I took the dogs for a nice walk!

Noah had a super rough night, but luckily its a rain day for Daddy, so he was able to go into work an hour later and luckily Noah slept in until after 9 for me!

High Five Yo

Ahhh it's finally Friday! This week has been a busy week and for some reason I've been exhausted. But it seems like every night after Noah went to bed, M and I were busy working away at getting a little more organized, and I still feel like we have soo much to do!

But putting up the tree was a must! And this little man was in pure amazement of it!
This picture means soo much to me! I can't wait to do a little tree photoshoot with him!!

I have waited soo long for this exact moment and it didn't disappoint! I said last year while being pregnant that the magic of Christmas was coming back and now I can confirm that it is really here!! Although Noah won't really understand Christmas this year, it is already proving to be special to him and this alone makes it special to us.

As I mentioned last year Christmas was the hardest for us during our infertility struggle, not only are we reminded of the pregnancies that we lost, but we always felt like we were missing something and that was the magic of the season. I know I sound crazy saying that, but for us it is like we have just found something we had been missing for years and our excitement is unreal! Christmas is a big deal around these parts and I never ever want to lose that feeling again.

Snow... It snowed a lot this week, now we are not talking snow like Buffalo, but we have a lot! Rumour has it might melt this weekend because we are supposed to get some positive temps again, which makes this mama happy!!

This morning I hosted the girls get together for the week! It was actually really nice doing a day time activity, especially as all of our evenings are filling up with holiday fun! It was really nice being able to host again!! Man I missed having people over. Hopefully we will get the house a little more organized so I can get some pictures going for you all!!

That's about all I got! Next week I will have an etsy shop to share with you all and maybe I will have a Christmas list put together by then!!

Have a great weekend!!

Just One Of Those Days

Ugh we are having a rough go today, actually I shouldn't say we, because it is entirely me! Luckily Noah is in great spirits!

First I will start off and say that we have extra visitors in our house right now and I am less than impressed with their presence! I guess moving out of the house, along with your cats for 6 weeks can do this, but the mice are back. Bad enough that my dishwasher is getting a work out to sanitize all my dishes that were boxed up, because I found evidence of mice, but baskets of laundry we just brought home are now being washed like crazy now too.

I hate mice! This morning I found evidence of them in another basket of laundry! Ahhhh!

Then I goto the bank, get $20 out for parking at the hospital, not that I ended up needing it because I got the free parking spots for Noah's appointment! The appointment went well, we were in and out. Then we grabbed some groceries and that's when I realized I lost the $20!! No clue where, hopefully next week I will be able to tell you about finding $20, but today it's gone.

Which leads me to the next problem... I'm searching the diaper bag to find my $20 and what do I find a rip in the seam of my diaper bag! Soo mad! I'm hoping they will cover me under the 1 year warranty... I ordered it on November 13 last year, but it was even shipped to me until the 20th, so I didn't receive it until like the 25th! It's on decorative seam, not even a spot that would be pulled or used.
Then we are coming home from town, we are coming into the village, the roads are suddenly crappy from blowing snow, so luckily I was driving slow, but a car decided it would stop suddenly to turn, but took forever to turn and I almost ditched the car. Insert mini heart attack!! Luckily it turned just in time as I was approaching the shoulder of the road and I was able to correct in time.

And then... I realized Lily got into the bedroom garbage and put my Kleenex all over the floor!!!

So that's how my day is going... Hopefully tomorrow I will be back with a full week recap since this week has wandered away on me as far as blogging goes!!

Weekend Rewind

A weekend that started off with snow, ended with snow! If anything it put me in the Christmas spirit, but the snow can go now!! Soo not ready for this!!

Friday afternoon I dropped Noah off with Grandma and then headed to London with J to hit up the toy sale!! We did pretty well and timed it great because there were no line ups, where as earlier there were tons when my sister was there!! I did manage to get Noah a few things, as well as some Christmas presents and a baby shower gift!! So glad we were kid-less though, I couldn't imagine shopping the sale with them!

We didn't plan on going for dinner, but decided to last minute. Can I just say I haven't done anything last minute without Noah since I had him and man did it feel weird!! We enjoyed dinnr at Casey's, although I was a little disappointed to see the menu changed!

When I got home we put up the curtains and a few pieces on the walls, as well as started putting our home decor in place. There is something curtains do to make a room feel more put together!!

Saturday morning M worked, so Noah and I got as much done around the house as we could. Noah has pretty much been living in his fleece jammies all day lately since we moved home because we have no insulation in the ceiling in the great room! It comes today, thank goodness because it is cold!! I'm happy we have our little fireplace upstairs again!

Saturday afternoon my aunts dog came over for a sleep over, both Noah and the dogs had fun together!

When M got home from work, we decided we better start grouting the backsplash! Let's just say it was a very messy job, but we got it done and couldn't be happier with end result! Why did we wait 2 years to put this up?? I promise a full reveal, once we are more settled!

We tried to do somemore organizing in the kitchen while putting stuff away, but eventually called it a night! So I got comfy on the couch and watched Parenthood and then called it a night!!

Sunday we worked away at putting stuff away in the kitchen, organizing, etc. We went to town to grab groceries and this little man actually slept while we shopped!! This hasn't happened in forever!!

I will say that I cannot believe this little man turned 9 months old yesterday!! What the heck? Are you sure I had him 9 months ago to the day??

We worked away in the afternoon, all while taking sometime to play as a family with Noah and the dogs! Betsy went home in the afternoon just before the snow started again!

We headed to the farm for dinner and M helped his Dad hang the light they were supposed to hang while we were staying there! Oops! But we did discover little man is getting a bottom tooth now! Hopefully this one will stick around, because his top two front teeth popped down and then disappeared!! I was feeding him dinner and put a piece of chicken in his mouth and felt something sharp on my finger! I was worried that somehow he got a bone, but after further examination it was a tooth!!

It was a busy weekend, but we at least feel a little more settled!!

Today we woke up to lots of snow and it's still falling!!

Today is also World Prematurity Day!! I sure do live my preemie, despite his rough scary start to this world, I love him like crazy!!

High Five Friday

We are all officially home!! The dogs, the cats, the baby and us, are all back safe and sound in our house!! Binx walked around the house meowing last night after she arrived. Believe it or not, she was the one who was the most stressed out with the move!! Clearly she was excited to be back home!! It feels great to have everyone home!

Now to just get some sort of organization going!!

This crazy mama wants nothing more to get settled so I can put up my Christmas tree!! Yes, this is what motivates me, that and I hate clutter!!

Yesterday the backsplash went up in the kitchen! You know, the one I have had for 2 years that has been on my honey-do list... Well our contractor put it up for me, but we have to grout and seal it! Hopefully this weekend!! My kitchen looks all glam now, minus my white microwave and old cupboards, but they are no longer the focal point!!

Little man was loving the toys I pulled out for him yesterday!! He especially loves this steering wheel!!

Today I am hitting up the big Samko and Mikko toy sale!! This is my first time going and I am hoping to get a lot of Christmas shopping done!! Fun fact - I am actually looking forward to being able to do all my own Christmas shopping this year and actually shop in stores,  not just online!! Last year I was pregnant with a broken ankle!!

This morning we woke up to snow! Yuck! But Noah slept in until 8 again, so that was fantastic!! Usually he's up early on Fridays!!

Happy weekend friends!!

These Are The Moments I Waited For

Last night reminded me of the little moments in life where I would sit and dream about, believe it or not.  Yes, I used to dream about sweet baby snuggles and all the great moments parenthood brings on, but I also used to dream about the not so great moments, like when your baby is screaming his head off, or won't go to bed. I know... Who am I? But maybe infertility prepared me, gave me a new look at these less glamorous moments. We have all had these trying times and as fast as I would like for them to pass, I remind myself that babies don't keep. These moments too shall pass.

Noah was fighting sleep all day yesterday like it was his job! It makes sense, we just moved back home, he needs to re-adjust, we need to get our self-soothing back under control, but friends that doesn't happen over night. For the last 6 weeks I have rocked my baby to sleep and sometimes it has been for over an hour of dancing around the room, just to ensure he gets half an hours rest, and as tired as I would be, or as sore as my arms and back would be, I did it because that is what made him comfortable in our new surroundings. Mike would wake up numerous times a night to do the same thing. We coped, we survived and as much as we are ready to bounce back to the way it used to be, we aren't complaining.

While waiting for our child we would hear people complaining about sleepless nights, or screaming children, you name it. But for us, these moments mean soo much to us! We have a baby that is able to wake us up at night, that needs extra snuggles right now, a child that we would do anything for!

Last week I actually had to call Mike home to come and help me get Noah to bed, because he wouldn't budge and as much as I felt like a huge failure, I was soo grateful to have someone I could call home to help.

Last night M had a massage and tried to get Noah down before he left, which didn't work, so I tried for 40 more minutes and then decided this wasn't happening, especially seeing how our day went. So I brought him downstairs, ran myself a bath, put him in the bouncy seat he is too big for, strapped him in and put him right beside the tub and relaxed. As relaxing as playing peek a boo with a rubber ducky that is, but he was happy and I therefore I was too!! Was this ideal? No! Would I have preferred to have a bath by myself? Sure. BUT, instead I had a laughing baby beside me, up way past his bedtime, but he was content and sometimes, you just have to forget about the should be's and just let life happen. This is hard for me.

I am a planner and you can't exactly plan life with a baby, just like you can't stick to a plan of when you will have a baby. It would be nice, but realistically we can only plan soo much!

So next time you are stressing because your child isn't sleeping, or fussing, remind yourself how lucky to are for these moments and remember this too shall pass!

Loves on Wednesday

Today I have quite the list of loves to share with you!!

First and foremost we are HOME sweet HOME!!! And we celebrated with a glass of wine last night!! It was fantastic!!

Speaking of wine, I have two bottles that I am loving right now, both being moscato of course! The one we had last night:

Which is actually gluten free believe it or not!!

The second one is Cavit:

There is still some work going on in the house, but we are slowly but surely getting settled and next up will be Christmas decor!! I will share pictures once we are a little more settled!

I decided we would swap couches for the time being and put our big sectional downstairs and our smaller one upstairs! We eventually plan to buy leather furniture for upstairs, but this will do for at least the holiday season! I think we will start spending more time in the basement as well as Noah gets bigger and his toys do too!!

We have said farewell to the mamaroo!! Sad day in my husbands world, as he loved it, and it servd us for a long time! But Noah started sitting up in it, so it was time to say goodbye for now! Best money spent was on that baby item, we definetly got our money's worth! This means we only have the exersaucer for big bulky baby items in the great room now!!

I love that we will be decorating for Christmas soon, you know once we get settled!! I can't wait to see Noah during the holiday season!!

Of course I'm loving my sweet little family but believe it or not I'm going to get through a post without posting a pic of Noah!! Yup, this means you are only getting pics of wine!!

Happy Wednesday friends!!

Weekend Rewind

This weekend started off with fantastic news from our contractor!! We are moving home this week!! Originally he had me excited with Wednesday!! As grateful as we are to be able to stay at the farm, instead of a hotel, we all can't wait to get back into our routine, have Noah sleeping in his own room again and enjoy our safe home once again!

Being away from home for 6 weeks is no easy feat! The things you end up missing the most are humorous. Mike has always complained about how I talk his ear off while in bed before sleeping and now he full on admits he misses it!! I always said I missed Noah being in our room, but it is clear as day that I don't really!!

The paint is up in the great room/kitchen and bathroom and I am soo happy with it, after dreams of it being the wrong color, I ended up changing my mind last minute and we all know I don't make last minute decisions, especially with home decor. But I did and I love the result!!

The kitchen cupboards should be up today, along with some of the crown moulding which we decided to have put up! The railing will likely be up tomorrow and better yet we are moving home tomorrow night!!

Friday night was quiet, we watched Pitch Perfect after Noah went down and then called it a night!

Saturday M worked in the morning, while Noah and I hung out. Saturday afternoon we went to the house to check on a stain color while Grandma and Grandpa watched Noah. We popped into town to go pick up more stain and a birthday present for G! We also took Noah down the toy isle for some Christmas present ideas and ended up buying one, but we will see if Daddy can hold out till Christmas to give it to him! Haha.

We picked up dinner, headed back to the farm, fed Noah his dinner and then had a nice quiet evening playing with this little ham!! We had him giggling soo hard, M and I were in tears laughing soo hard as well!! It's these little moments together as a family that I cherish soo much! I hope to be able to remember them forever, and incase I dont, I made a recording on my phone!

Sunday M had cold water rescue training, so I started off with baking chocolate chip peanut butter cookies and boy did they not disappoint!! Played with this little munchkin...

Then M headed back to the hardware store to grab crown moulding and backsplash glue while I started packing up a few loads of our stuff!!

When we got to the house, M and his Dad cleaned up scrap metal, Sue started staining, I fed Noah and worked on cleaning the bedroom. When M was finished he came in and put Noah down for a nap in his room, which was a struggle because he hasn't been home for so long, but M had luck! I managed to get the bathroom toilet cleaned and tidied up a few other things.

Later that night we had to stop by a special 2 year olds birthday!! Love these two together!! Surprisingly enough despite Noah being up past his bedtime, he was in great spirits!

He did fall asleep on the way back to farm, a whole 3 minute drive, so we put him in the bath, nursed him and then brought him down for Grandpa to read him his favorite book Clifford Goes To Bed!!

Baby Toys....

Help a mama out!! Little man is starting to get bored with his basket of toys!! He needs more age appropriate toys. He loves books, loves his exersaucer and loves a small selection of toys in his basket!

I bought him some wood blocks and he likes them, but they might be better for when he is a bit older! Then when at play group he played with a little people school bus and had fun pushing it back and forth, so that made me want to get him some little people vehicles!

Grandma gave him the john deer tractor and boy does he love watching it roll back and forth on its own and he loves checking the wheels on the new CAT dump truck. The dump truck came with mega blocks, which he also seems to like.

But that doesn't leave us with many options really in the grand scheme of things!

Daddy is in denial that the mama-roo will be put away when we get back home, as Noah has very little interest in it now and can sit up in it - which is a big no-no!

I did buy him a play school house for him to sit and play in, but I'm not sure he's ready for that yet, as he's not crawling!

I am sure we have some toys that will work upstairs in the toy room once we are home. I will add that to the list of things to go through haha! On a high note paint is splashing my walls today!! Oh and next week we are moving home!!

What did you mama's out there do around the 9 month stage for activities to keep your baby busy. What toys did you use at this stage?

And because a post isn't a post without pics... Here is one more! This is how they watch Noah play! Apparently Jazz feels safer tucked into Gracie!!

Midweek Ramblings

Soo apparently Noah is not adjusting well to the time change... which means I am not adjusting either!!

Monday Noah was a bear and Monday night was a total Mom fail, which finally left me texting M to come home and help. He was at fire practice and luckily was finished when I finally caved and texted him at 10 PM. Noah was up till 11 PM!! I've never had such a time trying to get him down!!

Yesterday he was still off, Grandma ended up giving him a Christmas gift early to help amuse captain cranky pants:

So instead of dealing with his crankiness, we decided to go shopping in Stratford! It was a great choice and seemed to be just what he needed!! We went to Target first, where I bought him a little people truck, as most of his toys now he is outgrowing or bored with. I also found a great selection of halloween candy and you bet I stocked up!! 70% off!! I bought receiving blankets to make a rag quilt with and bought myself some new pj pants so M can stop complaining about the ones I have being too big! $3 pj pants!! You all know I love great deals!!

Then we had Kelsey's for lunch again, which mean more spinach dip!! Soo good!!

The mall was up next. I had luck in winner's and bought Noah new bibs (waterproof ones for messy meals - we know they are coming). I also found a stroller blanket that is super warm for fall/winter! These are to find around these parts, so I was really happy to find one! I could use it in his car seat too!

I also got some new Christmas soap from Bath and Body Works - be sure to check out the new holiday smells! It was hard to choose!! Noah started to get a bit cranky, as we lost track of time and I am sure it was a combination of being hungry, overtired and teething and he cried the whole way home! Fun times! We got back to the farm, I nursed him and put him down and sure enough he slept for an 1:45.

I had to wake him for dinner! I am pretty sure he would have slept all night if I hadn't woke him!

Off I went to Zumba and enjoyed a good hard work out!! Luckily I came home to a sleeping baby and was able to goto bed early!!

Today we have songs and stories at the library!
